Piolet d’Or 2015 Big List

The annual Piolet d’Or award honors various alpinists for their successful ascents and exploratory alpinism on mountain all over the world. Around this time each year, a list is compiled of the previous year’s ascents that demonstrate the ethics of the sport, respect for the natural environment, and support of local cultures. Eventually, this list will be narrowed down to one ascent that will be awarded the Piolet d’Or award.

The Big List of 2014 ascents for the 2015 Piolet d’Or has been published online and we are excited to see the names of some of our fellow athletes who are supported by Grivel, Edelweiss, and Beal:

Video: Desert Ice Trailer

If you aren't attending the Mountain Film Festival in Telluride this week, you're going to miss out.

Why?

Because a new film featuring Edelweiss and Grivel athlete, Scott Adamson is premiering at the festival on May 23, 2014. Desert Ice features Scott Adamson and others tackling some rare ice deep within the high desert canyons of Southern Utah.

Scott Adamson Takes 2nd in Vail

In February I got invited to the Winter Mountain Games in Vail, CO to compete in their mixed climbing event. At first I was a bit skeptical about the whole event. I’ve never really been a competitive climber. Most of my climbing is in the hills with nobody around. My buddy told me, "Just show up and climb you will enjoy it. Its a fun event with fun people." So instead of heading up to climb in the famous amphitheater cave, which was the initial plan, I headed into town to test my abilities on an artificial wall.

Santeria First Ascent - Scott Adamson

On January 3, 2013, Scott Adamson (31) from Provo, UT sent the first ascent of Santeria in Provo Canyon, making it the hardest mixed climb in Utah.

Scott Adamson hails from Provo, UT where he keeps himself busy establishing high-end mixed-ice climbs in Provo Canyon, as well as delicately sewing up the cracks in the deserts of Southern Utah.

Scott is mostly known around the nation and world for his epic attempts on the east face of Alaska’s Mooses Tooth and the southeast face of Kyzyl Asker in Kyrgyzstan. Obviously his real passion is on alpine and ice ascents, although he is still very keen on trad climbing and loves to dip into sport climbing and bouldering every once and a while.
