Product Recall: Vaude Kenta Child Carriers

For Immediate Release

Liberty Mountain, the U.S. distributor of Vaude products, in cooperation with Vaude, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Health Canada is issuing a product recall for the Vaude Kenta and Kenta Plus child carriers.

Vaude has discovered a potential fall hazard caused by the unraveling of a side strap seam on the Kenta and Kenta Plus models of the Vaude child carriers. Dealers and consumers should stop selling and using the recalled products immediately. Liberty Mountain will provide replacements carriers to authorized Vaude dealers where consumers can exchange their Kenta and Kenta Plus carriers for the Vaude Jolly Light carrier.

This recall involves backpack-style child carriers sold under the Kenta and Kenta Plus model name. “VAUDE” is printed on the back and between the shoulder straps of the carrier. “Kenta” or “Kenta Plus” is printed on the lower back or hip belt of the carrier. The carriers were sold in black, red and brown and were designed for children up to 31 pounds.

Out of the current 300 units sold in the U.S. and 100 units sold in Canada, Vaude has received only two reports of the side strap separating. No injuries have been reported. This recall is a public service to ensure the safety of the Vaude customers.

Vaude is a German company that specializes in backpacks, as well as sleeping bags, tents, and outdoor apparel.
