Revelation Mountains First Ascent - Chris Thomas

On April 14, 2015, Beal athlete Chris Thomas and Rick Vance climbed the west face of Seraph (8,540') in the Revelation Mountain Range of Alaska via a new route they called Mandarin Mounty (5.10 WI5+ A2, 2,300').

Chris Thomas shares his full account of the climb and epic return home on Alpinist.com.

As a Beal sponsored climber, Chris Thomas climbs on Beal ropes that are made with the industry-leading technologies of UNICORE (bonding the sheath to the core to eliminate sheath slippage and excessive core exposure if the sheath is cut.) and GOLDEN DRY (UIAA certified water repellent treatment that applied to all the filaments of the sheath and the core, keeping water absorption down below 2%).

On this first ascent, Chris Thomas and his partner roped up with a pair of the Beal Gully 7.3mm, the thinnest and lightest (36 g/m) half-rope that Beal makes.
