A Service to El Cap

A gnarled mess of static ropes dangling on the East Ledges descent of Yosemite's El Cap has been a common avenue for those looking to return to the ground from their vertical trek on one of the world's most iconic cliffs.

Up until last month, these fuzzy looking fixed lines have been the life lines for many on rappel or ascenders. Thanks to Edelweiss USA athlete Cheyne Lempe, these manky looking cords are now bundled and retired from their many years of service.

It took Cheyne about 3 hours to wrestle the 500 meters of rope to the ground while also replacing it all with a beautiful 200 meter 10mm static line from Edelweiss.

Thanks Cheyne for taking the time and giving back to the climbing community. Keep on sending.
